Some ministers of state and other government officials in the bus in Kumasi
Ministers of state and other government officials accompanied President Akufo-Addo on the tour of the Ashanti Region in a bus.
The President commenced a five-day working visit to the region on Friday, and the major surprise was the bussing of prominent ministers.
No official explanation has been given by the Presidency with regards to the decision, but sources claimed the President gave the order.
According to the sources, “President Akufo-Addo doesn’t feel comfortable when his convoy is full of numerous flashy vehicles. He, therefore, decided that all the ministers should leave their flashy cars behind and accompany him on the tour in a bus to reduce waste.”
Meanwhile, the president’s decision to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy has been lauded by the people of the Ashanti Region.
Some of the residents that spoke to DAILY GUIDE indicated that the initiative clearly shows that President Akufo-Addo loves the country.
“It only takes a patriotic person like President Akufo-Addo, who hates waste of Ghana’s resources, to introduce such positive policy.”
According to them, the president’s positive action would definitely help to protect the public purse, adding that it should be sustained by future presidents.
