THE MUCH-publicized ‘May Day Geodrill Kid’s Squash Clinic’, held at the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Squash Club in Kumasi, will certainly have a special place in the history books of the club.
This is because no mean a personality, than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who is a former squash player, passed through the club when the laudable squash programme was going on.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, who is noted for his love for kids, spent some minutes to chat with the 50 children, who are aspiring to become top squash players in the country in future.
After having a hearty chat with the kids, who certainly were looking extremely excited, the president also embarked on a photo shoot session with the young squash players at the Mess Club.
Virtually, all the kid’s present were seen trying to, at least, touch President Nana Akufo-Addo, who from the smiles on his face, indeed, enjoyed being in the midst of the young squash players.
The ‘May Day Geodrill Kids Squash Clinic’, is being sponsored by Geodrill Ltd, a reputable mining services company in the Ashanti Region, to help unearth fresh squash talents in Kumasi.
On the day, seasoned squash players, mainly from Mess Squash and other squash clubs in the city, took turns to train the enthusiastic-looking kids about how to play squash.
Richard Koffie, a representative of Geodrill Ltd, who witnessed the event, said he was happy about the high patronage, adding that the kids also displayed some sublime squash skills.
