‘Nana Is Committed To Affirmative Action’

Reg. Women Organizer-NPP, Georgina Ayamba

Upper East Regional Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Georgina Ayamba, says the president’s selection of Paulina Tangoba Abayage for the Upper East Region is timely and apt, especially when women living in rural and urban areas are looking forward to opportunities and sustainable initiatives to improve the livelihood of their families.

According to her, the decision of President Akufo-Addo to appoint a celebrated gender activist whose capabilities are known by many local and international development organizations is a clear demonstration of his commitment to the ‘affirmative action’ and desire to see women develop.

A statement issued by the regional NPP women organizer congratulated the incoming regional minister and urged her to work hard to attract and create more opportunities for women to gain employment and undergo vocational and career training to help their families and their communities.

She stated: “I wish to entreat the incoming regional minister to use her good offices to do more for the women in this region, especially widows, by giving them special attention to enable them access the policies and programmes of government . . .”

Madam Georgina Ayamba has assured the new minister of unwavering support from the women at the grassroots of the party throughout her stay in office, but urged her never to lord it over the people she would be working with in the region.
