President Nana Akufo-Addo has paid a working visit to the Kumasi Centre For Collaborative Research (KCCR).
The visit was to enable him have a first-hand understanding of the operations of KCCR.
KCCR is one of the pioneer testing centers for the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana.
The President had earlier paid similar visit to the Noguchi Memorial Institute For Medical Research which is the main testing center.
During the visit, the President was taking through the various departments of KCCR including its DNA center, laboratory and coronavirus testing room.
The President was shown the various machines being used at the Centre to test for Covid-19.
He was also briefed about the safety measures that have been put in place both for health workers at the Centre and the larger environment.
Previously, the Cente was using a mobile extraction method to take samples but about two weeks ago it received a robot that is able to extract 48 samples within 17 minutes, the President was informed by a female manager at the KCCR.
The President was excited to hear about the work being done by the robot.
He was walked through the samples testing process and the efforts being made by the Centre to improve its operations.
