Scores of families last Saturday gathered at the forecourt of the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, for the annual Eid Funfair aimed at fostering unity as well as promoting child development among Muslim communities.

According to the organisers, the 4th edition of the event which brought together children from diverse backgrounds was expected to promote social interaction and inculcate Islamic values in the children.

The Eid Funfair is jointly organised by Jil Al Quran, the National Mosque, HUDAI, Qatar Charity, and TINASCO, creating a platform for recreation among Muslim children.

The organisers said the funfair recorded about 5,000 participants from various parts of the country, including Ashanti and Northern regions, marking a significant progress from previous editions.

Activities at the fair were carefully designed to provide children with a safe and engaging environment, while also encouraging interaction among families. Organisers noted that the programme goes beyond entertainment, incorporating educational elements that contribute to the holistic development of young participants.

Jil Al Quran continues to play a leading role in advancing educational initiatives within the community. The organisation currently offers free weekend Quranic and Islamic education to more than 2,600 students, with indirect beneficiaries exceeding 10,000 children across the country. Its programmes are focused on instilling discipline, moral values, and imparting knowledge among others.

Speaking on behalf of the partner organisations, Dr. Omar Zowk emphasised the importance of investing in children, saying, “By combining education, values, and social engagement, we are investing in the future of our children and communities. Investing in children is a shared responsibility, hence an important platform like this will continuously be provided for these young ones.”

Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the initiative in the coming years, noting that the continued success of the Eid Funfair highlights the impact of unity, shared vision, and consistent dedication to community development.

As part of the event, participants from Ashaiman, Walewale, Kasoa, Madina, Santor, Dodowa, and Spintex among others who competed in the annual Quran competition received certificates for participation and cash prizes.
