NDC Admits To Bad Governance

The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), in its 2024 manifesto, acknowledged the flaws of its previous administration, which led to its defeat in 2016.

Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party’s general secretary, speaking at the party Manifesto launch at Winneba on Saturday emphasized the need for humility and a willingness to learn from past mistakes.

According to him, “We have learned from our past mistakes, and we are committed to doing better,” Kwetey said.

He lamented “Our manifesto is a promise to deliver on our commitments, and we will not make promises we cannot keep.”

This statement comes after former President John Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer, acknowledged his administration’s shortcomings in 2016.

“We didn’t meet the expectations of Ghanaians, and we are sorry for that,” Mahama said in 2019.

John Mahama’s administration was criticized for its handling of corruption scandals, including the Woyome saga, which led to the loss of millions of Ghana cedis.

“We should have done things differently, and we should have been more proactive in addressing the concerns of Ghanaians,” Mahama admitted.

Despite these challenges, the NDC remains optimistic about its chances in the 2024 elections.

The NDC General Secretary, Kwetey’s emphasis on humility and willingness to learn from past mistakes may be seen as a step towards redemption.

“We are committed to transparency and accountability, and we will ensure that our promises are achievable,” Fiifi Kwetey said. “We will not engage in politics of deception and lies.”
