AN ATTEMPT by some goons of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to illegally takeover the running of a popular lorry terminal at Sofoline in Kumasi has failed.

The hoodlums, reportedly, stormed the station in a ‘Rambo’ style to forcibly takeover the station on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, the NDC members claimed that they were National Security personnel and have been ordered by their superiors in the city to seize the station without delay.

The NDC members, who were in possession of big padlocks, just started chasing workers at the station from their offices before locking up the offices.

Eyewitnesses’ reports indicated that the goons alleged that they played crucial roles to help their beloved NDC to win the 2024 polls, but they are not enjoying the party’s victory.

In this regard, they have therefore decided to takeover the running of the popular lorry terminal at Sofoline so they could also accumulate enough money to cater for their families.

Despite their constant threats to spill blood, managers of the lorry terminal stood their grounds as they refused to cede the running of the lorry terminal to the NDC members.

A standoff between the managers of the terminal and the NDC members then ensued, sparking tension at the place. It took the intervention of the Sofoline Police to ensure peace.

Issah Imoro Omar, the Kwadaso Constituency NDC Chairman, was initially accused of masterminding the forceful takeover of the facility, but he has vehemently debunked the wild rumours.

Speaking on Ezra Radio in Kumasi, he stated that indeed some NDC party members attempted to takeover the running of the lorry terminal on Tuesday, but he had no hand in it.

According to Issah Imoro, he rather rushed to the place to calm tensions, stressing that the allegations about him were false.

He disclosed that the standoff between the managers of the facility and the NDC members were eventually settled peacefully at the Sofoline Police Station.
