NDC Man Fights Back Over ‘Unqualified’ Claim

NA member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted claims by some members of the party that he is not qualified to contest forthcoming parliamentary primaries in the Tema West Constituency.

According to Wakefield Ackuaku, an actor, he is not seeking to contest the constituency parliamentary primaries of the NDC through any dubious and unlawful means as alleged by the members of the party in the area.

His reaction is coming on the backdrop of a press statement issued by the NDC group calling itself Concerned Democrats of Tema West, who were challenging his intention to contest the forthcoming primaries in the constituency.

He was reacting through his lawyers to a press statement by the Concerned Democrats of NDC jointly signed by their Convener Joseph Kwei Angmor and Secretary David Aidoo which was subsequently published by Daily Guide on May 16.

In the said statement the concerned members alleged that Mr. Ackuaku was a resident of Osu-Klotey who had come to Tema West with the intention of contesting the parliamentary seat and said he was not qualified.

However, Mr. Ackuaku is debunking all the allegations levelled against him by the group, indicating that he has no questionable and fraudulent character and thereby fit to represent the people of Tema West.

He clarified that “he has been a resident of the Tema West Constituency for the past seven years and hence, he is very qualified under the applicable laws of the Republic of Ghana and the constitution of the NDC to contest the said parliamentary seat,” contrary to claims by the group.
