NDC Thugs Assualt Ayensuano Residents Over Voter Transfer

Some thugs suspected to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC on Friday stormed the Ayensuano Electoral Center at Asuboi in a Rambo style and heavily assaulted some residents of the area who were transferring their votes.

The thugs as gathered were allegedly mobilised by the NDC Constituency Secretary for Adeiso, to the Electoral Commission Office at Asuboi in the Ayensuano Constituency to assault eight persons, where one person was seriously injured.

The victims, who are residents of Yawboyi, a village in the Ayensuano Constituency that shares boundary with the Adeiso Constituency decided to transfer their votes from Adeiso since their territory falls within Ayensuano.

However, on Friday morning, about eight persons hired a bus and went to the Electoral Commission office at Asuboi to transfer their votes to the constituency from Adeiso.

Upon their arrival at the EC office, the NDC Constituency Secretary for Adeiso, when heard about it made efforts to stop them.
This is because the Assembly Member for the area who is NDC member was the one who initially recruited the victims to register and vote in Adeiso instead of Ayensuano.

The NDC secretary therefore mobilised the thugs to trace them to the EC centre at Asuboi to stop them from transferring their votes from Adeiso to Ayensuano.

The armed thugs reportedly stormed the EC centre at Asuboi and heavily descended on the victims by beating them up severely.

In the cause of the beating, Richard Effah, a victim from the Yawboyi community was seriously injured and was rushed to Asuboi Clince to receive medical treatment.

He is currently suffering from a Hematoma at the back of his left leg.

The chaotic scene turned into free-for all fight at the EC centre.

It took the intervention of the Police from Teacher Mante and Suhum when they had the information and rushed to the centre to calm the situation.

The NDC gang leaders who recruited the thugs reportedly fled from the scene before the police arrived.

Meanwhile, the Ayensuano NPP Constituency Executives have filed a complaint at the Teacher Mante Police Station to apprehend the NDC thugs from Adeiso and Ayensuano Constituencies respectively for assaulting the victims at the Electoral Commission office.
