Alhaji Alhassan Tapsoba
Alhaji Alhassan Tapsoba, the former Deputy National Coordinator of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, who was arrested at his house in Kumasi last week, has been granted bail.
He was charged with threat of death and arraigned before court in Accra on Friday which later granted him bail.
Asafo Adjei, counsel for Alhaji Tapsoba, who made the disclosure, said hopefully his client would be released on Monday.
“Alhaji Tapsoba was granted bail by a court in Accra on Friday, and we are still working on the bail conditions. Hopefully, we shall completely meet the bail conditions latest by Monday afternoon,” Mr. Asafo Adjei told Nhyira Fm, a Kumasi-based radio station.
Speaking in an interview with the radio station on Monday morning, he said a member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger P.I. Investigation Team had accused Alhaji Tapsoba of threatening to kill him.
Mr. Asafo Adjei said Alhaji Tapsoba, who is a friend of the complainant, flatly denied the allegation.
He was arrested in his house in Kumasi by some plain clothed security personnel.
Tapsoba’s wife quickly lodged a complaint with the police and it was later discovered that the accused was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
Mr. Asafo Adjei said those who apprehended Tapsoba did not have an arrest warrant.
He also added that the matter is still being investigated by the police.
