Network for Assin Development has in collaboration with Gold star Airline, donated 200 pieces of blocks and 15 bags of cement to Assin Brofoyedur M/A Basic School in the Assin Central Municipality of the Central region.
The donation forms part of the NGO’s plan to rehabilitate the School’s JHS Block which collapsed some time ago as a result of a heavy downpour.
The President for Network Development, Samuel Adobah noted that government alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities facing the country, hence there is a need to join hands in order to help alleviate the burden of the masses.
Mr. Adobah expressed worry about the manner in which school children in rural areas were being deprived of quality education.
He said that makes it difficult for rural students to compete with those in the cities due to their poor academic foundations.
“Children must not be denied of quality education if truly we want to create a better society for them,” he said.
He, therefore, urged the government and relevant stakeholders in the education sector to take a critical look at the needs of students in deprived areas to help them have access to quality education as well.
He also entreated parents and guidance to endeavour to take full responsibility for the needs of their wards since they are future leaders.
However, he admonished the students not to engage in immoral acts and rather focus on their education.
