Renowned musician and CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, has denied ever having a sexual relationship with female artistes that he ever worked with.
According to him, his relationship with female artistes under his record label has always been professional.
They don’t engage in sexual activities, yet they become successful.
Richie was reacting to recent suggestions that artiste managers should date female artistes to be able to manage them successfully.
Nana Asiamah Hanson, otherwise called Bulldog, who first made the proposal on Hitz FM some months ago, said, “Primarily, if you want to manage a female artiste successfully, you have to be in a relationship; an emotional relationship and a sexual relationship with the artiste.”
Interestingly, Mark Okraku-Mantey supported Bulldog’s proposition.
He pointed out that “some man will sit in his house and take decisions for you because you have invested in his wife and he will call the shots…and because your money is in there, you will conform whether it will help your investment or not…”
Based on that, Mark Okraku-Mantey, who is the CEO of Slip Entertainment, suggested that it would be prudent for male managers to date their female artistes in order to safeguard their investment.
But Richie Mensah, who has also produced female artistes such as Eazzy, MzVee and Irene Logan, had a different opinion.
For him, it cannot be a great idea to have a sexual relationship with a female artiste.
“I haven’t slept with any female artiste,” he told Naa Ashorkor on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM Saturday.
“Can I refute one of the things he (Mark) said?… The point is, dynamics happen anywhere. It could be a wife, it can be a brother, it could be a father, it could be anything,” he stressed.
Though Richie Mensah agreed that a cordial relationship should exist between artistes and managers to foster progress, he maintained that a love affair is not the solution in safeguarding a manager’s investment in an artiste.
Mzvee, who is currently under Richie’s management, was reported to have once said she will never date or marry a man in Ghana’s showbiz industry because they are not trustworthy. This is an obvious indication that Richie may be telling the truth.
