Prof Peter Twumasi
Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah believes newly- appointed Director-General (DG) of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, has what it takes to push Ghana sports a notch higher.
The Minister said at the induction of the new NSA chief “He will succeed and continue with the good works of the NSA. He will develop sports.”
He added “As an energetic young Professor, I have the confidence that, he would carry along the staff of NSA to ensure that we develop all sports in this country.”
The Sports Minister pointed out that sport is a major tool for job creation and was important to have someone with the kind of leadership skills that Professor Twumasi possesses, saying “That will be a huge asset to Ghana and the NSA.”
The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua Constituency, admonished workers of the NSA in his quest to change the fortunes of the NSA.
He added “He needs your support, encouragement and advice in all fronts. You have to be very honest and truthful in the execution of your duties to see the NSA develop.”
Prof. Twumasi, 44, comes into his new office as the Head of Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, College of Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and other high profile positions in academia.
The new NSA boss also worked with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) where he served as chairman of the government appointees and coordinator of the Sister-City Desk.
He is a member of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council Internal Audit Committee, a judge of Appeals Tribunal of the National Bio-safety Authority, Ghana and also has to his credit several reviews and publications of numerous journals.
