The National Film Authority (NFA) has awarded grants to three film production firms to help fund their projects.
The goal of the CLAP ACP2 and Creation Africa Co-production Grant is to promote creativity and teamwork in the Ghanaian film industry.
The National Film Authority is the project’s champion, and collaborators include the French Embassy, Creation Africa, and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
Last Tuesday at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, the Authority unveiled the winners of the Creation Africa and CLAP ACP2 Co-production Grant office.
The recipients included Adjoa Films ($5,000) for their film “Regulated Minds,” which examines men’s vulnerability and mental health; Driving Park Limited ($80,000) for their project “A Dream to Die For,” which addresses illegal mining; and Midnight Run Productions ($5,000) for their horror film “Tantra,” which is about nightlife in Accra.
In an interview with Joy FM in Accra, NFA CEO Juliet Asante explained how the three film projects were chosen, saying, “We put out a call after we thought that we had enough to start, and a lot of productions came through. However, we were focusing on a few important areas, one of which was co-productions.”
