In a significant move to boost the country’s healthcare delivery, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has released an additional GHC151 million to healthcare providers nationwide.
The disbursement, announced on August 17, 2024, aims to settle outstanding claims of up to March 2024 for higher-tier healthcare providers and April 2024 for the majority of clients at lower-tier facilities.
According to Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, Acting Chief Executive of NHIA, in a statement said this funding demonstrates the authority’s commitment to ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of healthcare delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
“The NHIA has acknowledged the crucial role healthcare providers play in the success of the NHIS and has pledged to maintain a robust partnership with facilities”, the statement noted
The Authority has also expressed gratitude to healthcare providers for their dedication and support in delivering excellent healthcare services to citizens.
“The NHIA has assured stakeholders that it will continue to engage with them to address any concerns and work towards a sustainable and efficient healthcare system”
This funding injection is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery across the country.
