Award-winning gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong has criticised outspoken broadcaster Captain Smart, demanding an unqualified apology over remarks made about former Church of Pentecost Chairman Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah.

In an interview shared by Ghpage TV on Instagram on February 20, 2026, Omane Acheampong cautioned the Onua TV host to be measured in his criticism of the respected cleric, warning that reckless commentary could damage reputations without due process.

“Is Captain Smart the Attorney General?” the gospel star quizzed. “Why are you disgracing people based on hearsay? I have a lot of reports about Captain Smart, but I won’t say them.”

Omane Acheampong argued that no court has found Apostle Onyinah guilty of any wrongdoing, insisting it was inappropriate for the broadcaster to cast aspersions publicly. “He doesn’t have any facts to support what he is saying. The court hasn’t declared him guilty, so why would he sit on Onua and disgrace him?” he fumed.

The musician did not stop there. He accused Captain Smart of double standards, questioning why the media personality avoids discussing his own private matters on air while frequently delving into others’ personal affairs.

“Captain Smart, why don’t you discuss your family issues on the radio?” he asked pointedly. “The fact that he supports the NDC doesn’t give him the chance to sit on air and insult prominent people.”

Omane Acheampong further warned the broadcaster to tread cautiously, suggesting that political affiliations should not embolden attacks on individuals. He also called for an immediate apology to Apostle Onyinah over the statements made on national television.

The fiery response follows recent comments by Captain Smart in which he sharply criticised Apostle Onyinah, accusing him of misusing state resources allocated for Ghana’s controversial National Cathedral project.
