The National Information Technology Agency (NITA), has officially launched its Information Communication Technology Week aimed at making Ghana a digital trade hub in the sub-region.

The 2025 National ICT Week celebration, which will start from August 25 to 29, 2025, is expected to foster high level policy commitment, promote public private partnerships, as well as support small and medium enterprises (SME) digital integration among others.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Acting Director General of NITA, Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, said the world has evolved in a moment of rapid global transformation where technology is no longer a luxury but a central driver of growth, trade and development.

He mentioned that Ghana, recognising the new reality, has over the years made significant strides towards building the infrastructure and institutional framework required to take advantage of the changes.

Dr. Kevor indicated that Ghana has therefore invested in broadband expansion, e-government platforms, national identification systems, and youth-oriented tech programmes among others.

“Government has developed key policy frameworks such as the Digital Economy Policy, the Ghana Digital Financial Services Policy, the Data Protection Act and the Cyber Security Act. These policies provide regulatory clarity, investor confidence and strategic alignment with global digital standards,” he disclosed.

He further stated that the commemoration of the national ICT Week will not only afford people the platform for engagement but also explore Ghana’s potential as Africa’s digital trade powerhouse.

The Director-General added that the week-long celebration is also expected to strengthen trust in the digital market place, highlighting Ghana’s digital trust framework.
