Nosa Rex Apologises To Ghanaians Over Movie Piracy Outburst

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Nosa Rex has apologised to Ghanaians following backlash over comments he made regarding the alleged piracy of his film ‘Prince of Peace’ by a television channel in Ghana.

On August 12, 2025, Nosa posted a video on social media accusing a Ghanaian TV station of illegally broadcasting the movie. In the heat of his anger, he referred to Ghanaians as “stupid” and claimed the country’s entertainment industry would continue to suffer because of piracy.

The remarks sparked outrage, with several Ghanaian entertainment figures, including Nana Poku Ashis and MC Portfolio, criticising him for disrespecting the country.

In a follow-up video posted on August 13, 2025, Nosa clarified that his words were directed at the TV stations involved in piracy, not the Ghanaian public. He admitted his frustration over the issue may have made his delivery harsher than intended.

“I mean no disrespect. It’s not in my nature to insult anyone. The insult was directed at the TV stations, not the entire country. I’m sorry, I love you guys,” he said.

The actor stressed that piracy undermines creative work and urged both Nigerian and Ghanaian entertainers to speak out against it to protect the industry.
