Wontumi and other NPP bigwigs in Kumasi during the press conference on Friday
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to call members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to order.
The NPP claimed members of the NDC are stockpiling arms in Kumasi ahead of the December 7 elections.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, made the allegation in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
The move by the NDC poses security threat so the Asantehene should call them to order immediately, he disclosed.
“Otumfuo should call President Mahama and his NDC to order so that they will stop stockpiling guns in Kumasi.
“I am also appealing to the various foreign missions to also stop the NDC from stockpiling guns.
“The Peace Council should also play roles to make sure that the NDC behaves well during the polls.”
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Wontumi alleged that the NDC had transported guns to Kumasi.
The guns were conveyed in three military cars and another military car was also filled with ammunition, he added.
Wontumi noted that the firearms were sent to the house of a known NDC member at Asuoyeboa on Thursday.
According to him, the police went to the house to seize the guns after the NPP had informed them.
Wontumi said the guns were sent to a military base in Kumasi where the police were asked to withdraw from the case.
He urged Otumfuo, the foreign missions and Peace Council to ensure the thorough investigation of the matter.
Stockpiling arms ahead of an election is a dangerous act so Otumfuo should help resolve the case, Wontumi said.
