The ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vetting Committee has cleared all the Presidential aspirants for the upcoming Special Electoral College of the party.

The committee has recommended all the ten individuals who submitted their nomination forms for the Party’s Presidential Primary Election, subject to the approval of the National Council.

A statement issued on Wednesday July 12, 2023 by the party and signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong said the Committee recommended the under-listed individuals as eligible to participate in the upcoming Presidential Primaries subject to the approval of the National Council.

They are:
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agypong, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The Vetting Committee, which consists of seasoned party members and legal experts, has considered several factors, such as the aspirants’ adherence to party principles, track record of service to the party, and their ability to lead the party and the nation.

Following an extensive vetting process, the committee found the successful candidates to meet the eligibility and qualification requirements.

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party will deliberate on the Vetting Committee’s recommendations on July 20, 2023. The Special Electoral College Election is scheduled to take place on August 15, 2023. The cleared aspirants have already started their campaign efforts, visiting various regions and engaging with party members to articulate their visions for the party and the country.

The New Patriotic Party is committed to promoting transparency, fairness, and inclusivity in its internal processes.

The upcoming election will provide an opportunity for party members to participate actively in the selection of their presidential candidate, ensuring that the democratic principles upon which the party was founded are upheld. The election is expected to be fiercely contested, as each candidate seeks to convince the delegates of their suitability and capability to lead the party and the nation.

As the election date draws near, political observers and party members eagerly await the outcome, which will shape the direction of the New Patriotic Party and potentially influence the political landscape of the nation.
