Joseph Minnow Afful addressing the press
Some delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region are threatening to take court action over the acceptance of the nomination of an unqualified candidate by the executives.
Joseph Minnow Afful, a member of the party in the constituency, gave the warning in a press release.
According to him, per the modalities communicated at recent press conference held by John Boadu, the Acting General Secretary of the party, “a contestant must be a registered voter and member of the constituency in which he/ she seeks to contest.”
But the executives in the region have violated the regulation and accepted the nomination of one Alex Hagan, who is not registered member in the constituency, to contest for the constituency chairmanship post.
In the Ekumafi constituency, a party member who is contesting for the youth organizer position was disqualified on the basis that he does vote in the constituency.
Mr Afful therefore called on the national steering committee and national executive board to intervene to forestall lawsuits from the aggrieved members which will be detrimental to the party.
“If we don’t hear from them by 10 today Friday, 23rd February, 2018 we will go to court,” he added.
