The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) has urged the public to disregard reports circulating on electronic and social media platforms that certain individuals are plotting to remove and insert names into the voters register ahead of the party’s delegate’s congress on November 4.
According to a statement issued and signed by the Secretary, William Yamoah, the committee said the provisional voters register was shared with all aspirants to enable them and other concerned individuals to verify and identify any errors that require correction while keeping in mind the issues pertaining to historical points of contention in political party elections.
“Also it is intended to provide ample opportunity for those individuals whose names may have been inadvertently omitted, repeated/or wrongly included to draw attention for correction. Similarly, it allows key stakeholders and aspirants the opportunity to object to names which erroneously might have been included, omitted or duplicated”
“It is rather unfortunate for anyone to insinuate that certain individuals are scheming to either remove from or insert names into the voter register”. It added
The committee therefore assured the general public of its commitment to remain resolute not only to produce an accurate and credible voter register but also assured that the electoral process is conducted in an equitable, transparent and free from bias while it encouraged and welcomed input from all party members as well as other interested individuals.
All stakeholders are kindly encouraged to submit their concerns, contribution and observations to the secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee at the NPP headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra”. It added
