NPP Flagbearer Primary: Bryan Acheampong Clinches Volta Region

Dr. Bryan Acheampong has emerged winner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primary in the Volta Region, securing a commanding victory over his competitors in the keenly contested race held today.

Official results released by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the Regional Collation Centre in Ho show that Dr. Acheampong polled 5,234 votes, the highest among the five contenders, out of a total of 11,524 votes cast across the region.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia placed second with 4,093 votes, while Ken Ohene Agyapong followed in third position with 1,982 votes. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum garnered 125 votes, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong secured 43 votes.

The total number of valid votes cast in the Volta Region stood at 11,477, with 47 rejected ballots.

The Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Johnson Akafia, who supervised the process, certified the results as a true and accurate reflection of votes cast by delegates at the various collation centres.

The peaceful conduct of the primary and the decisive margin by which Dr. Acheampong won have been interpreted by party watchers as a strong endorsement of his message and appeal among NPP delegates in the Volta Region.

Dr. Acheampong’s victory in the region further strengthens his momentum in the national race, as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) moves closer to electing its flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
