Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has vowed to unite the party regardless of the outcome of the 2026 flagbearer election.

Speaking with journalists during his inspection at various polling stations in Accra, the former lawmaker indicated that party executives have laid down measures to ensure candidates come together as a united front to defeat the ruling NDC party in the 2028 election.

“I don’t think it’s an issue because we’re going to come together as a party and work. And you should expect that something gets tough and certain words are used that aren’t palatable, but we have to take it as it is. And that doesn’t mean you have to get out of the party,” he said.

Mr. Agyapong added, “I hope if I’m the winner, I’ll bring the party together. To the delegates who are yet to vote, I urge them to vote for number one. I don’t expect any violence as well.”

The NPP flagbearer election is ongoing across various constituencies, with 211,849 delegates expected to cast their votes.

The contesting candidates include Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
