The late Ernest Yaw Kum
The Eastern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the sudden death of their Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi, following reports of his passing on various news portals.
In a statement signed by the Eastern Regional Communication Officer, NPP Evans Osei Yeboah (Tsooboi), it was indicated that the untimely passing of their member has caused sadness in the constituency and the party fraternity at large, throwing many into a state of mourning.
 He added that the MP, popularly known as the Star Boy, was known for promoting peace and working harmoniously with party members, making it difficult for people to believe the news of his sad demise.
“This heartbreaking news has come as a great shock to the Party, the people of Akwatia, and the nation at large. Hon. Kumi was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to the development of Akwatia and the ideals of the NPP was unwavering.” We extend our deepest condolences to his immediate family, the chiefs and people of the Akwatia Constituency, and the entire NPP fraternity across the country. May the soul of our beloved brother and compatriot rest in perfect peace. “Akwatia Star Boy nante yie,” part of the statement read.
