NPP National Confab For Eastern Region

The new executives being sworn in

The Eastern Region will in June this year host the national delegates’ conference to elect the national executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the acting General Secretary, John Boadu has announced.

Mr. Boadu, who doubles as the National Organiser of the NPP and currently vying for the substantive general secretary position, made the disclosure when he was addressing the Eastern Regional Delegates’ Conference in Koforidua.

According to him, the choice of the region – which happens to be the home of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – is because of the efforts and hard work of the party members which led to the massive victory of the party in the region in December 2016.

He noted among other things, that the region has been a stronghold of the party and has always been committed to increasing the votes of the NPP and so they deserve to be acknowledged.

Elected

At the end of Saturday’s regional polls, the Chairman, Kingston Okomeng Kissi; the incumbent Youth Organizer, Jerry Osei-Opoku; Treasurer, Ben Kumi; Secretary (new entrant), Jeff Konadu; Deputy Secretary, Yaw Papin and Organizer, Kwame Appiah Kodua went unopposed.

The First Vice Chairman position was keenly contested by incumbent Alhaji Umar Bodinga and his challenger, Michael Oteng Adu, former New Juaben South NPP Constituency Chairman.

Alhaji Umar Bondinga aka Field Marshall, who has served for two terms, managed to secure 402 votes to retain his post.

The Deputy Regional Women’s Organiser, Fati Vondolie, won the substantive post with 297, beating her two contenders, Josephine Sam and Mercy Amo Darkoh, who secured 64 and 261 votes respectively.

Richard Twum Barimah, a first timer from Krobo-Oduamse, was elected the 2nd Vice Chairman, beating James Appietu-Ankrah and Seth Otchere aka Osonoba. Hussein Mohammed Fadilu, former aspiring regional youth organiser, was elected Nasara Coordinator.

At the end of the polls, which was conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission, the National Treasurer of the party, George Abankwah Yeboah, swore them into office to run the affairs of the party for the next four years.
