The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened registration for additional delegates as part of its expanded voter register in preparation for the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
In a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, the party directed all qualified officers and dignitaries falling under newly approved categories to immediately register with their respective organisational structures, including the national secretariat, regions, constituencies, and external branches.
The exercise, which began this week, will run until Friday, September 19, 2025.
The party said an online registration link would also be made available to external branch executives for ease of access, while other qualified members have been advised to liaise with their constituency and regional offices.
The expanded voter register follows a decision taken at the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference in Accra on July 19, 2025.
The new categories of voters include all former regional and constituency executives, members of the National Council of Elders, 30 members of the National Council of Patrons, all past national officers, as well as external branch executives and their predecessors.
Also added are TESCON presidents from recognised tertiary institutions, the national TESCON coordinator, regional coordinators, and designated TESCON patrons.
In addition, former NPP card-bearing Members of Parliament, parliamentary candidates, ministers, deputy ministers, and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) are now eligible to participate.
Ten members each from regional councils of elders and patrons, and five members each from constituency councils of elders and patrons, will also be included.
According to the party, the Presidential Elections Committee will undertake a thorough verification and validation of the updated register to ensure authenticity and credibility before the election.
