The acting National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Sawda Saeed, has donated 50 bags of cement to the market queens to help rehabilitate the Kojokrom Market in Sekondi-Takoradi.
According to her, the donation was in fulfillment of a promise she made in the run-up to the December 2016 elections.
She told the market queens that the NPP administration would meet the needs of women and children in the country.
She indicated that the completion of various projects, including railway infrastructure, in the Kojokrom community would help actualise the government’s vision of transforming the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
“So the gesture is my contribution towards the improvement of the market and other infrastructure in the market,” she added.
Hajia Sawda expressed her gratitude to the people for reposing confidence in the NPP government and giving the Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey the opportunity to represent them in Parliament.
She reiterated the government’s commitment to bringing development to the doorsteps of the people.
“We are focusing on education and youth development as boldly enshrined in the manifesto of the NPP under his Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo.”
She used the occasion to inform the market women about the existence of a vocational institution set up by some NPP women in the metropolis and urged them to send their children there to acquire vocational skills free of charge.
Hajia Sawda told them that the vocational institution would train the youth across the Western Region in carpentry, masonry, hairdressing, electrical works and catering, among others.
The market women thanked the acting NPP Women’s Organizer and pledged that the cement would be used to execute the project.
