The new Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim did not only bow his knees to express gratitude to God, he prostrated in a fashion which made wonderful pictures at the St Peter’s Methodist Church, Mile 7, Accra last Sunday.
His gesture to the Almighty was unsurprising having eventually won the highly contested position after previous attempts.
The sea of white garments spotted by top NPP members and supporters at the St Peter’s Methodist Church was a mark of goodwill he has among the political grouping.
The Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, his spouse Hajia Samira Bawumia, Alan Kyeremanten, John Boadu, and Matthew Opoku Prempeh were some of the dignitaries at the venue, which is the Chairman’s place of worship.
It was a double affair because the occasion was the 64th birthday of the Chairman.
A prayer was said for Mr. Ntim and his family amidst the singing of hymns and dancing.
He used the opportunity to thank the church members and its leadership for their intercessions from the time he embarked upon the campaign to the time of triumph. The incessant prayers and support, he said, played a crucial role in the achievement.
Stephen Ntim in a prostrate position thanking God
“In my own special way of thanking the Almighty God for taking me this far, I will lay down prostrate in the presence of the Lord,” he said.
It was a wonderful moment as he did so with his wife and family members in front of the congregants during the occasion.
Muslim party supporters and members were not left out of those who converged on the church in solidarity with Stephen Ntim.
A reception followed at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
