Okyeame Kwame
Rapper Okyeame Kwame has got many talking about his unusual fashion style to the 2018 edition of Glitz Style Awards over the weekend.
The acclaimed ‘rap doctor’ wore an Afropolitan look in a suit-like outfit combined with a traditional Ghanaian print on one side.
Most of his followers on social media have since Sunday been commending the style.
A stylist who spoke to NEWS-ONE under anonymity said his pair of trousers was quite rather big for him.
But Okyeame has explained the reason for donning such an outfit, saying he just wanted to present a different look to the awards ceremony.
“So I called @urtailorstailor and I said “I want to go to this year’s Glitz Fashion Awards in a tuxedo but that is expected of everyone. So I want to put on a kente cloth. However, that is also expected. So what can we do to fuse these two very different cultural styles?” Then he said “I have an idea!” And voila!!!! Ta-da!!! He gave me this ensemble!!! Truly #madeinghana and very avant-garde as Madam Joyce Ababio said to me yesterday,” he said on Instagram.
“Thank u @hamidvijay for accessorizing me as always. Brothers, you are appreciated,” he added.
The Glitz Style Awards was held on Saturday at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.
The event, hosted by Idia Aisien and Elikem Kumordzie, was held to honour individuals setting fashion trends in Ghana and across the continent.
The event was attended by Becca, Efya, Zynnell Zuh, Juliet Ibrahim, Sister Deborah, Eazzy, King Promise and a host of others.
Okyeame turned heads with outfit, as it looked unusual of him.
