As part of activities to mark this year’s World Hepatitis B Day, Okyeame Kwame will organise a free Hepatitis B screening for over 1,000 people at the premises of Ghana Post in Ho in the Volta Region today.
The programme which is being organised by the Okyeame Kwame Foundation (OKF) has the support of benevolent organisations and individuals such as the MDS-Lancet Laboratory, among others.
He disclosed that the screening exercise is aimed at creating public awareness about the disease.
Okyeame Kwame added, “The primary focus of my foundation is to raise awareness and education about Hepatitis B, a viral infection which infects the liver and causes an inflammation. The OKF is the springboard on which I drive my social responsibility agenda.”
He, however, advised the Ghanaian youth to take Hepatitis B screening very seriously “because the Hepatitis B is a preventable disease and AIDS is not. You shouldn’t fear when coming to screen.”
The rapper appealed to all corporate bodies and other non-governmental organisations to help in the fight against Hepatitis B and help save lives, especially that of young people.
The artiste also thanked all his fans for helping him attain the level his career has taken him to, adding that free Hepatitis B screening exercise project is a small portion of what he intends to give back to the society for their immense support.
In a related development, Okyeame Kwame last Monday led a delegation to call on the Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia, to notify him about his free Hepatitis B screening initiative.
The minister in a chat with Kwame Kwame lauded him for his initiative and promised him of government’s support.
