Otto Add (L) and Thomas Partey
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has held talks with midfielder Thomas Partey as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The meeting took place in Spain on Wednesday, just hours before Villarreal’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.
Partey’s engagement with the national team coach forms part of a wider effort to strengthen unity and reinforce a shared sense of purpose within the Black Stars camp.
Addo has been on a tour of Europe in recent weeks, closely monitoring Ghanaian players and holding face-to-face discussions as he builds towards the World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer.
During the trip, the Black Stars coach has also met several key players, including Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Mohamed Salisu, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Mumin and Mohammed Kudus, as he works to fine-tune his squad and deepen relationships within the team.
Partey, who is widely expected to leave Villarreal at the end of the season, later featured in the Champions League match, coming on at the start of the second half as the Spanish side fell to a 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Ghana have been drawn into Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face Panama, England and Croatia in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
