Oheneba Akyaa Panin III, after being destooled
THE QUEENMOTHER of Apatrapa, in the Ashanti Region, Oheneba Akyaa Panin III, has reportedly been destooled.
The beleaguered queenmother was said to have been destooled by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, her overlord.
Oheneba Akyaa Panin III was found guilty of not hailing from the royal lineage, and therefore not qualified to occupy the stool.
Otumfuo, who adjudicated the case, gave his final verdict at the Manhyia Palace during a traditional sitting on Monday.
The Apatrapahemaa’s royal sandals was removed in public to signify she had been destooled right after Otumfuo’s ruling.
The Asantehene’s final verdict in the case, has therefore brought the queenmother’s 24-year reign to an abrupt end.
With the destoolment of Oheneba Akyaa Panin III, the search for her replacement is said to have commenced right away.
Otumfuo, reportedly, told the Apatrapa kingmakers to search for a suitable candidate for enstoolment in line with custom.
