Otumfuo Goes On Vacation Abroad

Otumfuo exchanging pleasantries with some chiefs at the airport

 

HIS ROYAL Majesty, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, travelled abroad from Kumasi on Tuesday morning.

He was seen off at the Prempeh I International Airport by traditional leaders, government officials and security agents.

The Asantehene, recently, announced publicly to his chiefs that he would leave for short holidays abroad in February.

“I will spend the entire second month of the year outside the country. I want to go and rest,” Otumfuo disclosed then.

The exact destination of Otumfuo, who travelled in a private jet for the short holidays, was not disclosed to the media.

Before boarding the flight, the Asante King was seen shaking hands with some selected dignitaries on the tarmac.

At the airport to bid adieu to Otumfuo included the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene and some officials.

Some selected prominent traditional leaders in the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) were also present at the airport.

The Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, aka ‘Zuba’ was also present.

According to reports, in Otumfuo’s absence, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, Bantamahene, would take charge of Kumasi.

Asanteman, which is made of paramount chiefs, was also committed to Nana Dwamena Akenten II, the Offinsohene.
