Otumfuo Mpaboahene Lifts Patron’s Squash

Nana Yaw Owusu presenting the trophy to the winners

TEAM NANA Yaw Owusu won this year’s annual ‘Patron’s Day Squash’ competition.

Parading virtually an experienced team, the winners whitewashed Team Dan Owiredu, who paraded a young team from Obuasi.

Nana Yaw Owusu, the Mpaboahene of the Asantehene, and Dan Owiredu of Gold Star Resources are the two patrons of the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Squash Club in Kumasi.

During Easter festivities, the ‘Patron’s Day Squash’ competition is played annually between teams representing the two patrons with a trophy at stake.

Led by their in-form skipper, Lawyer Francis Coffie, Team Nana Yaw Owusu displayed sublime skills as they hammered their weaker opponents by 5-1.

After hostilities, it was all joy as team Nana Yaa Owusu, made up of crack squash players like Eric Mensah, B. Fuseini and others, lifted the trophy.

In his succinct remarks, Nana Yaw Owusu charged the executives of the club to embark on a rigorous membership drive to increase their number.
