Contrary to allegations by some residents in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region that their outgoing Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah, did not carry out any meaningful project when she was in office, the MCE has explained that she actually initiated a lot of projects.
Immediately the news about the dismissal of the MCE by President Akufo-Addo reached the people in the area, some of them hailed the decision.
However, speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the MCE mentioned that the projects she embarked on during her term in office ranged from education, health infrastructure, community development projects, and welfare support to individuals.
She said her commitment to the progress and positive change is evident through the various initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life of constituents.
She mentioned some of her projects as the six-unit classroom block with office, store room, furniture, and modern toilet facility at Amgbazie, and the construction of a police station unit with a mechanised borehole at Gwira Banso.
She also mentioned the renovation of Tebakrom Clinic with a supply of basic medicines, renovation of Assembly Urban Council and the completion of renovation works of Nzema East Municipal Health Directorate office.
“The office was a death trap and attracted several media reports before I assumed office,” she said.
She noted that she also built cassava processing factory under the one district, one factory (1D1F) programme, as well as a borehole at Bokoro.
“I also undertook the renovation of Assembly Office block and signages, government bungalows for office staff and completed a 2-unit classroom block at Kakusuazo and constructed culvert bridge on a river at Amgbazie to replace the wooden one which had been used for decades.
“I also supported the payment of medical bills of some constituents with critical health needs,” she stated.
“It is crucial for the public to be aware of the truth and not be swayed by baseless accusations. The NPP respects and appreciates everyone’s contribution to our development, and we expect all and sundry to do the same.
“The President knows best and is allowed by the constitution to hire and fire in the best interest of the NPP,” she pointed out.
Isaac Gyabbin, the constituency youth organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area, also acknowledged the developmental projects the MCE has initiated in the municipality, stressing that the NPP respects and appreciates leaders’ contribution to the development of the constituency.
