Parliament Approves GH¢2bn For DACF

Parliament has approved an amount of GH¢2,079,426,613 as the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for all ministries, departments and agencies in 2019.

Out of the amount, GH¢279.1 million is meant for institutional transfer while the Youth Employment Agency has been given GH¢166.4 million.

GH¢200 million has been devoted to the construction of buildings for the newly created six metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies with seed money of GH¢88 million for their operations.

The distribution of DAFC to the new districts will be based on the data of their parent assemblies.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joseph Osei-Owusu, who is the chairman of the Committee of the Whole, said the office of the Common Fund Administrator would conduct an exercise to collect data on all infrastructure and properties including schools, hospitals, market places and police stations situated within all assemblies to inform the preparation of the formula for subsequent years.

GH¢100 has been allocated to the School Feeding Programme while GH¢41.5 million has been given to the National Education Policies.

Waste management has also been allocated an amount of GH¢91 million. Constituency Labour Projects for Members of Parliament (MPs) has been allocated GH¢103.9 million, while GH¢62.3 million for monitoring and evaluation of Constituency Labour Projects by MPs.
