A high number of prominent personalities across Ghana’s socio-political sphere turned up in their numbers at the Supreme Court in Accra where judgement on the 2020 election petition is expected to be heard.
In th early hours of Thursday, high-profile personalities including Lawyer Akoto Ampaw, Lead Counsel for the second respondent, Nana Akufo-Addo, and his colleague lawyer, Frank Davies; lead counsel for the first respondent, the Electoral Commission (EC) Justin Amenuvor and his team; and lead council for the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata and his team were spotted entering the courtroom.
Chairperson of the first respondent, EC, Jean Mensa also arrived around 9:30am in the company of her husband, Dr. Charles Mensa who held her hand all the way into the courtroom. She was supported by her deputies, Dr Eric Bossman Asare and Samuel Tettey.
Shortly before the arrival of Madam Jean Mensa was the arrival of former President John Dramani Mahama, the petitioner in the case.
His appearance today marks his third since hearing started about 60 days ago.
Also here are Freddie Blay and Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) respectively; as well as Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, running mate to John Dramani Mahama in the 2020 presidential elections.
