Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia recently received the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) when it arrived in Ghana ahead of the 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia.
The QBR will tour some 70 Commonwealth countries and pass through several thousands of hands.
Dr Bawumia received the iconic QRB from Louise Martin, President Commonwealth Games Federation, before he handed it to Ghana’s Minister for Sports Isaac Assiamah at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
Several big names and personalities, including boxing legend Azumah Nelson, Australian High Commissioner Andrew Barnes, Director of Administration & Finance at the media wing of the Despite Group of Companies, Fadda Dickson; Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu, Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey, Zenator Rawlings, and several others run with the QBR before it was sent to the Theodosia Okoh hockey pitch for a brief ceremony.
