Francis Asenso-Boakye
DAILY GUIDE has uncovered a deliberate plot by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to tag President Akufo-Addo and his government as corrupt.
Key and influential members of the party have since been holding strategic meetings at secret locations in the capital to plan how to execute the agenda.
Part of the grand scheme is create fake stories about those close to the president in a bid to brand him as a man who is either corrupt or cannot fight corruption.
Just last week, some national executives of the NDC and some members of their communications team hatched a plot to put out a story in the coming days to the effect that Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has acquired a palatial mansion at East Legon.
They also intend to cook a story suggesting that within the short time that President Akufo-Addo has been in power, he has managed to own two Goil fuel stations.
The plan is to have the party’s serial callers start making allegations during radio phone-in programmes that Asenso, for instance, has been extorting moneys from some government appointees.
Part of the plan is also to create a voice purporting to be that of Asenso and some NPP appointees as evidence to play on air.
Also on the bill is to make Vice President Bawumia unpopular by discrediting him with voodoo statistics.
That is because they see Dr Bawumia as not just the right hand man of the president but his likely successor, and therefore, consider him a potential threat to their future electoral fortunes.
