The Ghana Police Service have arrested suspect, Nana Poku Piesie alias Kwabena, who was seen in a viral video during a radio show claiming to have defiled a 14-year-old girl.
A statement shared by the Police indicated that the suspect is assisting with investigations into the matter. “We wish to assure the public that the suspect will be taken through the due process of the law. The suspect is in custody assisting police investigations,” the statement read.
Nana Poku Piesie in a viral video was seen confessing to having defiled a minor during his time as a teacher.
“I defiled a child at the age of 14 years. The father of the child was rich and lived in Dormaa Ahenkro. I slept with her from the time she was in primary six till she completed KUMACA (Kumasi Academy). Doing evil is not good. You know when my girl-child got to her level I witnessed a teacher pursuing her which I was very uncomfortable with.
“Upon consulting my wife on that very development she referred me to the days when I was molesting the teenager, saying it was karma,” he said on Sunyani-based radio station, Sompa FM.
The video, which was shared on social media, triggered the reaction of some notable Ghanaian celebrities including rapper, Sarkodie and actress Lydia Forson, calling for his arrest
Sharing her opinion about the issue on X, Lydia Forson wrote, “If I speak on this video now, you will say I hate men. You will ignore that this man openly bragged about sleeping with a 14-year-old on air. You will instead focus on my outrage or make it the 14-year-old’s fault for allowing this.”
Sarkodie, outraged by the video, reposted Lydia’s comment with the caption, “I sense no hate here. He should not be walking around freely.”
