Police Gun Down 2 Robbers

The police at Asankragwaa in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region have shot dead two men suspected to be operating in the area as armed robbers.

The two were among about four armed robbers who attempted to attack a Chinese man in the area and take his gold dust.

The incident happened on Monday, August 31, when the suspects went on robbery spree at Adowahu, a farming community in the municipality.

The robbers allegedly went after the Chinese whom they thought was having some quantity of gold dust.

The police had a tip-off and rushed to the scene and when the robbers saw them, they started shooting at the law enforcers.

The police also returned fire and in the process two of the four robbers were killed. One of the armed robbers also sustained gunshot wound but escaped.

The police are, therefore, appealing to the public, especially medical facilities, to be on the lookout for anyone found with gunshot wounds.

One police man who was also injured during the shootout was rushed to the Asankragwaa Roman Catholic Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

The Crime Officer at the Asankragwaa Police Division, Henry Agbeve, confirmed the incident and said the case was being investigated.
