POLICE INĀ Bono East Region last Monday killed two suspects, Ali Ruga alias Mugu Yaro and Isaka Abubakar also known as Kuridor at Yeji in the Pru East District of the region.
The dead suspects were believed to be part of robbery and kidnapping syndicate that operated around Yeji- Atebubu -Kwame Danso enclaves.
A statement released by the police administration signed by the Director- General of Public Affairs of the police administration, ACP Kwesi Ofori, said the suspects were shot andĀ killed by a special anti-robbery squadĀ attached to the Bono East Regional Police Command at Yeji upon intelligence-led gathering and operation.
According to the statement, Ruga and Abubakar were members of a robbery and kidnapping syndicate and investigation revealed that on December 11, theyĀ kidnapped one Bona and later released him after they demanded payment of a ransom of GHĀ¢25,000.
āEarlier, the syndicate kidinapped one Alhaji Juuli and released him upon payment of a ransom of GHĀ¢60,000.ā
The police administration saidĀ its investigation revealed that the syndicate were involved in murder and robbery cases on Atebubu highway on 17, December 202 andĀ operated around the region and at times in the Savana Region.
āA search conducted at their hideout at Konkonba, a suburb Yeji led to the retrieval ofĀ a single barrel short gun, BB cartridges, three mobile phones and a talisman.ā
The Police Administration praised the Bono Regional Police Command and the anti- robbery squad for their bravery and the swift manner they conducted the operation.
