Daniel Yao Domelevo
Interesting times are here. While some of the leaders of political parties are engaged in “mix mix politics” speaking a little bit of lies and truth here and there, the more serious political actors are unveiling policy initiatives to change the fundamentals of the country.
The NDC and its leader, John Mahama have decided to trade lies and hate speech on the political landscape.
Former President John Mahama and his running mate, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang are engaged in theatricals. It is as though some gang of concert party crew have descended on the political space and engaged in debates that are simply laughable.
The allies of John Mahama, like the man he appointed a few days to exiting office as the Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo, is trumpeting the so-called “clearance” of John Mahama in the Airbus scandal. This is the man who presented different dates of birth and duplicate nationality, who today has the audacity to join NDC elements as moral clearing agent for Airbus scandal-scarred former President John Mahama.
In their case, the Special Prosecutor (SP) is a hero, demonstrating the tenets of the rule of law, with the garrulous Sammy Gyamfi, Okudzeto Ablakwa and others “whitewashing” John Mahama as an incorruptible politician.
We find it interesting to hear John Mahama criticise the government for his claim that President Akufo-Addo has delayed the payment of allowances to trainee nurses. This is really the case of the pot calling the kettle black, because John Mahama put his presidency on the line to cancel the nursing and teacher trainees’ allowances in 2015, but now he is crying more than the “bereaved”.
The elders say if one pushes the old lady that person should not be too worried about the location of her fall. John Mahama does not heed the wise counsel of our elders, otherwise he will not rely on lies to seek a return to power.
The NDC says Ghana is in its worst form of economic development, arguing that John Mahama is the better manager of the economy, but the NDC leaders have not put forth any single policy initiatives, save the 24-hour economy, which prior to its unlikely implementation one of its leaders is telling Ghanaians the NDC government will rear lions for export to Pudong. Our former President now questions the recruitment of nurses in an election year as if there is a specific period for the recruitment of public sector workers.
When John Mahama exited office in 2017, he left a backlog of unemployed youth and nurses for the present administration. The NDC only uses lies and mere fabrications and hate speech to lead the voters astray.
We reiterate that the electoral process has ramifications, and that is why this year’s elections are crucial for the future development of the country. Election 2024 is crucial for the future of the country, hence the need to weigh the two frontrunners in the electoral race more carefully before casting the ballot on December 7, 2024.
There is no debate about who is better qualified to succeed President Akufo-Addo. The choice of the next President of the Republic is obviously about the one with the far-reaching policies akin to the free Senior High School (SHS) but not the women’s bank system that the NDC running mate can hardly explain.
It is our prayer that the electorate will carry their discernment into the December 7 elections, so that John Mahama will be consigned to history.
We urge all voters to make their choice more decisive than ever before in order not to leave any doubt in the minds of the people about the right pair of hands to govern the country. It is the era of possibilities.
