Felix Kwakye Ofosu
We do not know of a country where diseases or physical challenges, concocted or real, play a part in political campaigns or discourses such as witnessed in Ghana.
When Felix Kwakye Ofosu assigned diseases to the political opponents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as part of an overall dirty propaganda strategy, he and his bosses had forgotten about how nature deals with those with negative intentions and who would go the full hog to destroy their neighbours through outright lies.
Various diseases have been assigned to political players by the NDC, prominent among whom were former President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
As for the former President, had Kwakye Ofosu and for that matter the NDC lies about his so-called disease been true, he would have died long before his presidential term ended. What informed such lies, we may ask knowing very well they were not true?
Only those who do not fear God will use lies to achieve their political objectives.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu claimed in the heady days of the NDC campaign that Nana Akufo-Addo was suffering from a renal disease, a condition which according to him was threatening the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign at the time. As for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, they claimed that he had suffered a mild stroke.
This is how inhuman some of our compatriots can be when it comes to seeking political power.
None of these diseases were suffered by the politicians as Felix told Ghanaians. Yet he has not thought it wise to come and apologise to us for engaging in the mendacious disclosures.
This is why some cynics regard politics as an occupation fit for dishonourable persons. This we disagree with because not all politicians belong to this rung of unfaithful, good-for-nothing personalities. There are many who have sworn oaths to serve the interests of their people, and this they have done without moral blemish.
The law of karma has a number of short quotes, some of which are relevant to us today as we are saddled with the gang of NDC liars as rulers of this country.
At the time the babies with sharp teeth toyed with the health of honourable personalities, the age of their fathers and grandfathers, little did they envisage that a time would come when their words would haunt them.
Okudzeto Ablakwa told Ghanaians that no member of the executive, legislature and judiciary should seek medical attention abroad should they fall ill.
Today, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has taken ill and had to be airlifted to a foreign hospital for attention. Does she not belong to the executive? Does the Foreign Minister who claimed to be a paragon of moral excellence have conscience? He lacks integrity and principles. Were he in possession of these virtues he would have resigned his position from which he had to facilitate the movement of the Vice President to a foreign health facility.
Don’t we still have a University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where our Vice President can be treated, and did President John Mahama not say all Ghanaians should be treated there and not abroad?
At the time that Mr. Mahama was seeking medical attention in South Africa, was the UGMC not in existence?
Indeed, one of the quotes from the law of karma states ‘what goes around comes around.’
We wish the Vice President speedy recovery, but when she returns, she should advise her colleagues to be mindful about their words which they spew out in the name of propaganda, because these could come back to haunt them as they are doing now.
These are early days and the NDC would have the law of karma playing out on them. Time will tell.
