Manklalo Cultural Group

Renowned Ghanaian traditional music ensemble, Manklalo Cultural Group, is set to embark on a two-week regional tour this October, bringing their electrifying live performances to audiences in both the Ashanti and Northern Regions of Ghana. The tour aims to introduce audiences to diverse shades of Ghanaian folk music and cultural dance, blending indigenous rhythm with storytelling and community connection.

The group—comprising talented dancers, vocalists, and instrumentalists—will perform in Adum, Manhyia, Tamale, and Kumbungu, followed by interactive workshops designed to educate participants on Ghana’s rich cultural traditions. The tour is proudly sponsored by a private organization based in Kumasi.

Speaking ahead of the tour, Ebenezer, one of the group’s kora players, shared that this visit will spotlight regional variations of folk music and dance, many of which will be introduced to these areas for the first time. “We aim to showcase the diverse beauty of Ghanaian culture,” he said, “and to celebrate the people, traditions, and rhythms that make each region unique.”

Fellow member Peter added, “Our performances will feature traditional instruments like the Dawuro, Atumpan, and Gome, offering an immersive cultural experience. The workshops will provide historical context and allow attendees to engage with the roots of our music.”

The group is known for exploring universal and indigenous rhythms through music that transcends language barriers—creating powerful, emotionally resonant experiences for audiences of all backgrounds.

The invitation for the tour came from Adamafio Adjeley, founder and director of Creative Black Rhythm, a Ghanaian cultural initiative committed to fostering artistic exchange. Adjeley confirmed that this tour will pave the way for ongoing collaborations and exchange programs with other traditional music groups, deepening cultural ties across Ghana.

Manklalo Cultural Group expressed their vision to preserve and evolve Ghanaian folk traditions, by collaborating with like-minded artists and transforming vocal-centered music into instrumental fusion performances that highlight the artistry of African instruments and rhythm.

This regional tour promises to be both entertaining and educational, uniting communities through music, dance, and cultural pride.
