Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded into custody after being arraigned on multiple criminal charges at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State.

The embattled artiste appeared in court on Monday, facing a nine-count charge bordering on assault, theft, causing harm and resisting arrest, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi said the charges stem from an incident at Portable’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day, where the singer allegedly assaulted his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, alongside several police officers and other individuals.

The case gained fresh attention on Sunday after a viral video surfaced showing Portable in police custody, reportedly following a complaint lodged by Ashabi.

Among those listed as alleged victims are Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah. The prosecution further accused Portable of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and reportedly purchased from Wally Dex Auto.

In court, two siblings of Ashabi Simple reportedly testified as witnesses to the alleged assault, although Ashabi herself was absent.

Police also alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.

The presiding judge denied the singer bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court, and ruled that her presence was required before bail could be considered.

As a result, Portable was remanded in custody, with the court adjourning the matter and fixing January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
