The Presbyterian University College (PUCG) has held its 15th Matriculation for seven hundred and twenty-two (722) freshly admitted students.

The matriculation was held in two sessions at different locations from its five campuses.

Students from Okwahu, Kumasi and Asante Akyem campuses were matriculated at Agogo while students from Akuapem and Tema campuses had theirs at Akropong Akuapem in the Eastern Region

Rev.Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng, President of the university, charged the students to take advantage of the facilities available to them to study for good grades.

‘Matriculation offers you (students) the opportunity to embark on a unique life experience and through it, a university renews itself through the enrolment of new students to replace those who have completed their respective programmes of study,” he indicated.

The President paid glowing tribute to government for granting private tertiary institutions 25% tax relief as promised.

“We are convinced that this single gesture, which is a fulfillment of a promise, will go a long way to cushion private universities to improve on their services to students and the nation at large” he remarked.

He stressed that the initiative was a step in the right direction as most private universities have been looking forward to it to reduce the burden of running their respective institutions.

Rev. Prof.Adow Obeng, however, appealed to the government to assist hard working universities get support from GETFund by way of reliable means of transport, staff development initiatives, research and other logistics which will enhance teaching and learning just as their counterparts enjoy.

He indicated that PUCG programmes are practically oriented and expose the students to a series of industrial attachments and fieldwork with the sole intention of equipping them with the relevant understanding and practical experiences and competencies.

“To support students work on the campuses, the university has improved its Information Systems by digitizing its information through Online Students Information System(OSIS).”

The system is used to store the records of student’s personal data, credentials for admission to facilitate the work of the school administrator.
