FLASHBACK: President John Dramani Mahama at the UN
President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for New York as the head of a high-level government delegation to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which opens today, Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
President Mahama is scheduled to address the UN on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
In addition to his keynote address, the President, serving as the African Union’s Champion for Financial Institutions, will host two major side events focused on strengthening Africa’s financial architecture.
During his stay in New York, President Mahama will hold a series of strategic bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, fellow heads of state, and influential global leaders, including the President of the Rockefeller Foundation.
He is also expected to engage with the US Africa Chamber of Commerce and make a historic appearance at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, where he will ceremonially ring the closing bell.
The First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, is accompanying President Mahama, and will take part in key events organised by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
She will also deliver the keynote address at a special World Vision International prayer service dedicated to the welfare of children around the globe.
The President’s delegation includes Chief of Staff Julius Debrah; Executive Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama; Special Aide and Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Deputy Chief of Staff (Finance and Administration) and Technical Adviser to the First Lady Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP); Minister for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh (MP); Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu; Minister for Trade Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Simon Madjie.
President Mahama and his team are expected to return to Ghana on September 30, 2025.
