Central Regional representative in the 2025 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant, Queen Afedziwa, organised a health education and mentorship programme in Cape Coast aimed at providing access to information and guidance on healthy habits, disease prevention, and self-care.
According to Queen Afedziwa, the mentorship aims to inspire and motivate children to make positive life choices, thereby boosting their confidence and prospects. The programme also addresses child protection, educating children on the need to report inappropriate touch to trusted adults, including parents, teachers, and responsible authorities.
Addressing the children, Queen Afedziwa spoke about the importance of education and goal-setting. She encouraged them to write down their dreams in the exercise books provided and to work diligently toward achieving them.
Sharing her personal journey, she explained that while not all childhood dreams may be realised, determination and hard work can still lead to meaningful success.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Nursing Services, Mr. Samuel Kwabena Ofosu, encouraged the children to be obedient, disciplined, and committed to their education, emphasising that education remains a powerful tool for shaping a successful future. He urged the children to aspire for excellence and to believe that they can achieve greatness.
The Head of Health Promotion Unit, Mr. Adjetey, educated the children on the importance of proper handwashing practices in preventing diseases. He led practical demonstrations, during which some of the children actively participated by demonstrating the correct handwashing techniques.
At the end of the programme, participants were provided with refreshments and learning materials, including drinks, biscuits, water, exercise books, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners. The programme brought together health professionals and child advocates who delivered age-appropriate education on personal hygiene, education, mentoring, and child protection.
